Ken Ogden, Murray Piper and Matthew Jose install the computers and telephones at the Christmas Bureau office under the watchful eye of Office Manager Freda Parsons.

Starting Nov. 1, the 91原创 Christmas Bureau will once again begin taking applications from families who need assistance during the upcoming holiday season.

This is the bureau鈥檚 40th year of providing food hampers and toys to 91原创 families in need.

The Christmas Bureau office will be located at 20560 Fraser Hwy. on the one-way street in 91原创 City. This location is just east of last year鈥檚 location, in the former Coast Capital building.

It will be open Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Applicants must bring two pieces of ID with proof of residency (current phone bill or Hydro bill) and a Care Card for each member of the family.

Last year, 809 families and more than 1,800 children were helped out by the 91原创 Christmas Bureau, said co-coordinator Jim McGregor. McGregor and Leigh Castron are once again heading up the volunteer operation.

鈥淓very year, the number of families registered goes up. In our business we don鈥檛 want the numbers to increase, but sadly they do,鈥 he said.

In recent years, the bureau has created application forms in several different languages, so the service is accessible for everyone.

The Aldergrove bureau will be at the Aviva Employment office at #104-26956 Fraser Hwy. It will open on Nov. 5 every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The popular Gifts For Kids tree at Willowbrook Shopping Centre will open the first weekend of December.

Toy Depot Days, when parents come to pick out gifts and a book for their children, will be held Dec. 16 to 18.

Anyone needing further information on application, family sponsorship or to make a donation, or to sponsor a family, can contact the 91原创 Christmas Bureau at 604- 530-3001 or see www.langleychristmasbureau.com.
