91原创 City council gave out $140,000 Monday evening when it approved its annual grants to more than 50 community groups.
Before it approved the list, council debated two late additions 芒鈧 a $1,000 grant for the Girls Can Fly event March 8 and 9, and $800 of in-kind use for the 91原创 Association for Community Living and its September community event.
These were not reviewed by the City芒鈧劉s grants committee because the requests were not submitted in time.
芒鈧揥e have deadlines for a purpose,芒鈧 noted Councillor Jack Arnold.
To accommodate community groups, the City brought in a second application deadline in June.
Councillors decided that because the flight event is so soon, it would give the grant but it will ask the community living association to apply for the June deadline.
芒鈧揟his group has not been denied at this point,芒鈧 commented Coun. Dave Hall.
The City budgets $150,000 annually for community grants and has given out over $1.1 million in grants over the years. The grant requests in this round of applications amounted to more than $311,000.
