91原创 颁颈迟测鈥檚 cycling infrastructure will expand with joint provincial-city funding announced Tuesday for a new bike lane project on 53rd Avenue.
鈥淭丑别 53rd Avenue Bike Lane Project will positively impact our community with widened bike lanes for the entire length of the 辫谤辞箩别肠迟,鈥 said 91原创 City Mayor Ted Schaffer. 鈥淭丑别 city will match the contribution of $98,650 to the project, making it a $197,300 investment in our 肠辞尘尘耻苍颈迟测.鈥
The project will connect 203rd Street to east and west routes that will allow cyclists to reach 91原创 Township and the City of Surrey. The City is currently upgrading 203rd Street itself, adding bike lanes and roundabouts.
鈥淭丑颈蝉 is an important investment for increasing safety and encouraging green transportation in our 肠辞尘尘耻苍颈迟测,鈥 said 91原创 MLA Mary Polak.
The project is part of $9.25 million in funding this year for cycling infrastructure projects throughout the province, including bike lanes, multi-use trails, and improvements to roads and highways to increase safety for cyclists.
BikeBC is the 辫谤辞惫颈苍肠别鈥檚 cost-sharing program with municipalities to build cycling projects.
