91原创 City芒鈧劉s support for small business was recognized with an award presented by the province at the Union of B.C. Municipalities in Whistler on Wednesday.
For the second year in a row, the City has received the B.C. Small Business Roundtable 芒鈧淥pen for Business芒鈧劉 Award, in recognition of local policies, projects, and programs that support small business.
91原创 MLA Mary Polak said it was a 芒鈧搘ell deserved win,芒鈧� noting, 芒鈧撁⑩偓艙This award recognizes the great work undertaken by the City to support the small business sector, attract visitors and investment, and grow our local economy.芒鈧�
芒鈧揟he City of 91原创 values the important contribution small business plays in the development, growth and success of our city,芒鈧� explained Acting Mayor Ted Schaffer upon receiving the award. 芒鈧揥e are thrilled to be recognized for our commitment to establishing supportive government policies, programs and services, and are especially grateful to the Greater 91原创 Chamber of Commerce and Downtown 91原创 Business Association for the excellent work they do in promoting and improving local trade and commerce.芒鈧�
In addition to offering competitive taxation levels and a streamlined approval process, the City of 91原创 has developed a number of strategies and initiatives to maximize economic development in downtown 91原创. These include the introduction of a Downtown Business Action Plan combined with an 芒鈧淯rban Magnets芒鈧劉 workshop and SWOT analysis, a community survey, and the placement of way-finding signage throughout the downtown core.
This year, the roundtable 芒鈧�� which provides awards of $10,000 to each winning community to support the implementation of measures that benefit small business 芒鈧�� received submissions from all eight economic regions and short-listed 13 community finalists. Award evaluations were based on local measures that make it easier to do business in that community, including enhancing small-business competitiveness, recognizing the contributions of small businesses to the community, and promoting the principles of the B.C. Small Business Accord.
