91原创 welcomes first baby of 2021 on New Year鈥檚 Day

Daxton Saharko arrived at 3:25 a.m.

Six-year-old Colton Saharko was sure his new baby brother would share his birthday on Jan. 4 after Mom past her due date. Instead, the family welcomed the newest addition in the early morning hours of New Year鈥檚 Day marking the first birth in 91原创 for 2021.

鈥淸Colton] insisted on picking him up from the hospital,鈥 laughed mom Lacey Christink.

鈥淗is face was perfect,鈥 she recalled when Colton first met his little brother.

The 37-year-old, alongside her partner Jason Saharko, 38, welcomed 91原创鈥檚 first baby born this year at 3:25 a.m. on Jan. 1.

The couple arrived at 91原创 Memorial Hospital around 8 p.m. on New Year鈥檚 Eve, while Colton was at home with his grandparents.

鈥淲hen we got to the hospital, because my contractions were so close together, they thought he was going to be born on the 31st,鈥 she explained.

Daxton Saharko was born weighing 9 pounds 12 ounces and measured 22 inches long, according to the now mother of two.

鈥淚鈥檓 a very petite mom,鈥 she laughed about giving birth to a nearly 10 pound baby.

There were a few names the family was considering, but said it was important to first met their newest addition and learned his personality.

鈥淲e had a family vote,鈥 she said about naming Daxton.

The couple was originally due to welcome him on Dec. 21.

After a challenging year Mom said Daxton is a 鈥渓ight鈥 for the family.

Her first born Colton arrived one month premature, so she expected Daxton to do the same.

鈥淲hen your first [born] is a month early you don鈥檛 expect to be overdue,鈥 she said.

Although Daxton鈥檚 late arrival was a surprise, the family knew they were welcoming a boy.

鈥淚t was fun to find out,鈥 Christink said, noting this pregnancy was a strong contrast to her first as a result of the pandemic.

鈥淚t felt like I was pregnant for a year and a half,鈥 she added.

But on a positive note the couple said the past year helped the family slow down and be present.

鈥淲e have a very bad habit of being busy,鈥 Christink said. 鈥淪ometimes you don鈥檛 take in the little things like being pregnant.鈥

Now, back at home celebrations for the family of four continue.

Monday (Jan. 4) marked Colton鈥檚 birthday. The big brother had big plans on how he was marking this milestone.

鈥淔or my birthday I want to go buy us matching outfits,鈥 Colton told Mom.

The mother of two called her family complete now.

鈥淭wo boys is going to more than enough,鈥 she laughed.
