A man who in Abbotsford in February has pleaded guilty to that crime, as well as two other robberies in 91原创 and Surrey.
Jesse Damond Morton, 37, was sentenced Nov. 19 in Abbotsford provincial court to 46 months in jail for three counts of committing a robbery using a prohibited firearm.
Five other charges 鈥� including uttering threats and possessing a prohibited firearm 鈥� were stayed.
The Abbotsford robbery occurred Feb. 12 of this year, when Morton used a sledgehammer to break through the window of the TD Bank at about 7:30 a.m.
Employees were in the business, but the bank had not yet opened to the public.
Morton demanded money, and employees contacted police, who already had several units in the area, including an unmarked car less than 100 metres from the business.
An officer who saw Morton fleeing with a bag over his shoulder arrested him on site.
Morton was found in possession of a handgun and an assault rifle.
The 91原创 robbery was committed on Dec. 20, 2013, and the one in Surrey took place Feb. 4, 2014.
