A new restaurant, shops, office space and apartments are planned for Willoughby Town Centre as the development enters its fourth phase.
Township council unanimously granted third and final reading to the proposal at its final meeting of the summer on July 23.
Located just south of 80 Avenue on 208 Street, between Willoughby Town Centre Drive and the playing field of Willoughby Elementary School, the next phase includes three new buildings 鈥 a three-storey commercial building with retail and office space, a one-storey commercial building for a restaurant and a four-storey mixed use building with retail and 91 residential units.
The proposal also includes a north-south greenlink, a greenway on 208 Street, surface and underground parking, and plaza areas.

According to a staff report, the ground floor of all of the buildings are designed to look and function like storefronts, which 鈥渃reate a pedestrian oriented streetscapes through the incorporation of glazing, canopies providing weather protection, building articulation and hanging signage.鈥
鈥淏uilding articulation and the plaza spaces provide opportunities for retail uses to spill outside of the buildings and the restaurant building includes a patio fronting Willoughby Town Centre Drive further enlivening the streetscape,鈥 the report says.
Willoughby Town Centre markets itself as 91原创鈥檚 鈥渇irst and only pedestrian oriented mixed used community,鈥 and once completed is expected to have 200,000 square feet of commercial retail space and more than 600 residences on 20 acres.
