Numbers up in school district

One hundred and 30 new international students pushes number to 500 in 91Ô´´ school district

There are 130 new international students joining the returning students for a total of 500 full-time enrolled in 91Ô´´ schools.

International students come from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Vietnam and, for the first time in a long time — Spain, Italy, Thailand and Turkey.

The students had an orientation day on Aug. 30.

The students started their day at 91Ô´´ Secondary then set off for a visit to Dr. Sun Yet Sen Gardens, Gastown, the Olympic Torch, Stanley Park and English Bay.

International students stay with host families in 91Ô´´.

Because they pay to attend school in 91Ô´´, the district depends on their annual fees as a big helper to their budget.
