The public is invited to learn about the secret life of a vanishing species this Saturday, June 10 at the 91原创 Events Centre.
The Orangutan Project (TOP) will host a fundraiser and seminar on that day. Professor Shawn Thompson, author of 鈥淭he Intimate Ape: Orangutans and the Secret Life of a Vanishing Species,鈥 and a professor at Thompson Rivers University, will speak about how orangutans make us more human.
The Orangutan Project (TOP) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that was founded in 1998 by Leif Cocks, an Australian zoologist and orangutan expert.
Since its inception, TOP has campaigned to preserve the orangutan鈥檚 habitat in Borneo and Sumatra, rehabilitate injured and orphaned orangutans, and spread awareness of the plight of one of our closest cousins.
Unfortunately, unsustainable methods of palm oil agriculture have led to the devastation of the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra. TOP鈥檚 mission is simple: to preserve the rainforest and to ensure the survival of the orangutan.
This is the second time the Orangutan Project has come to 91原创. Last time, the fundraiser saw dozens of people come out.
Light refreshments will be provided. General admission is $20. For more information on TOP, please visit
