Cascades Casino Resort unveiled the first phase of its property renovations during an invite-only open house last week.
Overall the project is an $18-million investment that includes various renovations and expansions, said Gateway Casino鈥檚 Madelaine Twomey.
Phase one included the addition of a new bingo hall, an expanded patio at Match Eatery & Public House, and renovations to the hotel rooms and convention centre, she explained.
91原创 City Mayor Val van den Broek toured the facility and called the space 鈥渇antastic.鈥�
鈥淚t鈥檚 so up-to-date and beautiful. They did a wonderful job. It鈥檚 nice to have a place to go to where you don鈥檛 have to go to downtown Vancouver. You don鈥檛 have to travel, the hotel room is right here, it鈥檚 the whole package.鈥�
Cascades Casino 鈥渟ets us apart from anything else that the area has to offer,鈥� added Twomey.
鈥淚 think it鈥檚 a great addition to the 91原创 community. It has turned us [Cascades Casino] into a full service property, giving guests everything they need in one place.鈥�
The invite list consisted of previous clients, potential clients, government dignitaries, and community stakeholders.
The casino shares 10 per cent of its net profits with the City, as required under gaming regulations, and van den Broek said the expansion definitely 鈥渂enefits the community.鈥�
In an effort to showcase the versatility of the convention centre, the open house set up different displays for guests to view. One room was decked out in a wedding theme, and another as an ice bar.
The banquet room was divided into sections to show two different dinner and party settings that can be arranged.
The mayor said the facilities are 鈥渏ust as good as downtown Vancouver.鈥�
Phase two is expected to be completed in 2019 and includes the opening of a new restaurant called Atlas Steak + Fish.
