It芒鈧劉s easy to verbally claim a marketing campaign is successful.
It芒鈧劉s easier to back it up when you can show that at least 35 per cent of the people following Tourism 91原创芒鈧劉s Facebook page are engaging with comments, shares, and posts.
But it speaks volumes when it can be shared how one of the photographs from the relatively new #91原创Fresh social media campaign reached one woman half way around the globe.
Late last month, during the first weekend snowfall, someone shared a picture 芒鈧 through #91原创Fresh 芒鈧 of the old school house in Campbell Valley Park surrounded by snow. Tourism 91原创 staff posted it to Facebook, and watched a touching story of community spirit and compassion unfold.
Shelli Wardell Rasmussen commented on the picture.
芒鈧揂bsolutely beautiful!!!芒鈧 she said. 芒鈧揑 live in Denmark and my parents are buried in the Fort 91原创 cemetery. Would be really cool to see some photos from there right now. Should be so pretty.芒鈧
Tourism 91原创 staff thanked Rasmussen for connecting with them, but it was the reaction of the community that moved Tourism 91原创芒鈧劉s executive director Deborah Kulchiski to tears.
芒鈧揑t literally brought tears to my eyes,芒鈧 she said, explaining how several people began posting pictures of Fort 91原创, including several overview shots of the Glover Road cemetery.
One woman even offered to head down to the cemetery 芒鈧 once the snow had cleared 芒鈧 and takes pictures of her parents headstones.
芒鈧揥OW!!!! You guys are amazing. Thanks so much,芒鈧 she replied.
This is just one example of the photos and stories that are being exchanged through the #91原创Fresh campaign.
Kulchiski said, it芒鈧劉s because of exchanges like this that she and her team will be able to hail #91原创Fresh as a success during the Tourism 91原创 annual general meeting later this week.
The concept for the campaign came out of last year芒鈧劉s AGM, when Kulchiski reported excess funds that she wanted to see directed into marketing, and ways of 芒鈧搃ncreasing awareness for 91原创.芒鈧
芒鈧揚eople know about 91原创. They know where we are, they know generally were we芒鈧劉re located and some of the products we have to offer,芒鈧 Kulchiski said.
But people weren芒鈧劉t talking about 91原创 enough, hence the birth of #91原创Fresh.
The campaign started last October, and is aimed at engaging residents and visitors to share how they see 91原创 through items on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media. A lot of the participants have been sharing landscape photos, but more and more people are engaging and sharing other aspects of life in 91原创.
芒鈧揥e want to give people a reason to look at 91原创 and to place 91原创 at top of mind,芒鈧 when planning vacations, daytrips, or backyard outings.
芒鈧揟his campaign has exceeded our expectations,芒鈧 Kulchiski said. 芒鈧揂nd it芒鈧劉s been really exciting to see 91原创 through other people芒鈧劉s eyes.芒鈧
Sports personality serves as AGM guest speakers
The AGM 芒鈧 set for Thursday, March 6 芒鈧 will also feature a reception and a tourism-related business showcase.
Global BC sports anchor Barry Deley is the speaker for the seventh annual general meeting.
Between car shows, festivals, sporting events, agri-tourism destinations, and cultural and historic sites, it芒鈧劉s estimated that 91原创 attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, said Kulchiski.
The best way for new residents and tourists alike to discover all that 91原创 has to offer is by calling on 91原创 Tourism.
Kulchiski noted that, while fewer people showing up in person at the centre prompted the move to smaller digs, the numbers of people seeking information about 91原创 online is skyrocketing.
For those looking for information or tourism ideas, they芒鈧劉re welcome to visit Tourism 91原创 at 7888 200th St., or online at www.tourism-langley.ca.
In the meantime, the AGM is being held at Trinity Western University芒鈧劉s Reimer Student Centre alumni office, is being held at 5:30 p.m. on March 6. People are asked to reserve ahead by contacting Christina Marchand at 604-888-1477 or christina@tourism-langley.ca.
