91原创 MLA Mary Polak has launched a social media campaign to engage 91原创 residents and get them involved in the work she does for the  community.

鈥淚 am thrilled to connect with my constituents in another way,鈥� Polak said.

On Sept. 12, Polak launched her first biweekly 30-minute Twitter Townhalls to hear from her constituents on topics that are important to them. The Twitter town hall was one of the first held by a sitting member of the B.C. Legislature.

鈥淪ocial media opens up our ability as MLAs to engage the public and hear what they have to say,鈥� Polak said,.

Her next Twitter town hall, on Thursday, Sept. 22 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., will focus on the topic of job creation.

Those who join in the town hall are eligible to participate in a contest; followers and friends can submit a photo of their favourite 91原创 place or activity with a one sentence description to Polak鈥檚 Twitter or Facebook pages. The deadline is Sept. 30, and entries are eligible to win gift cards to local businesses.
