A 43-year-old Maple Ridge man is facing multiple charges after police found stolen vehicles, tools and drugs while executing a search warrant at a property in the 27600 block of Downes Rd. on the Aldergrove/Abbotsford border.
Robert Allen Vrban has been charged with one count each of Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000, Operate a Motor Vehicle while Disqualified, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.
Officers from 91原创 Traffic Section obtained a search warrant on Jan. 4 for the property as part of a stolen vehicle investigation from earlier in the week. The search was carried out with the assistance of Air One and the Abbotsford Police Emergency Response Team.
As police staged outside the property, it is alleged Vrban left in a stolen Dodge Challenger that had been reported stolen in Surrey earlier that day.
Vrban attempted to evade arrest but was confined by two Lower Mainland Police Dog Services vehicles.
He was then arrested without incident. A subsequent search found substances believed to be cocaine, marijuana and a large quantity of methamphetamine, for which he received a trafficking charge.
It took Abbotsford Police Department鈥檚 ERT team over four hours to do a safety clearing of the farm property before 91原创 investigators were able to enter and continue the search.
In total, there were six stolen vehicles, one boat trailer, tools and a truck canopy recovered from the property.
鈥淭his is a classic case of 鈥榊ou never know what is going to happen during your day in policing,鈥欌 said Superintendent Murray Power, Officer in Charge of the 91原创 Detachment.
鈥淥ur 91原创 members were engaged in a fairly straight forward search warrant execution that quickly turned into a multi-agency event over two days. The co-ordination with Abbotsford PD ERT, Air One and Police Dog Services was seamless and extremely professional. All arrests were made and searches completed with no one being injured on either side. The Fraser Valley residents were well served by their police on this day.鈥
Vrban has been remanded in custody and will appear in court today (Jan. 10).
