The Surrey RCMP have identified the human remains that were found in a wooden area in Clayton Feb. 15.
After Mounties put the call out to the public April 25 for help in identifying an unknown male they included information about a tattoo and some clothing.
鈥淲ithin hours of the media release, police received multiple calls from people providing information to help identify the person,鈥� Cpl. Vanessa Munn, RCMP media relations officer, wrote in a press release May 2.
鈥淧olice followed up on the information received and continued to work closely with B.C. Coroners Service to confirm the identity,鈥� Munn added.
She said the man鈥檚 identity was confirmed and Mounties do not believe criminality 鈥渢o be a factor in his death.鈥�
Mounties are not releasing the man鈥檚 name 鈥渙ut of respect for the deceased鈥檚 family and their request for privacy.鈥�
Munn said the public was instrumental in helping to identify the man and she thanked the public for their assistance.

Surrey RCMP are releasing details about the human remains found in a wooded area in February in hopes of identifying the body.
Police were called to the area n the 19100-block of Fraser Highway in Clayton Heights on Feb. 15.
At the time, police secured the area and blocked off access pending an investigation.
鈥淐riminality is not believed to have been a factor in this death,鈥� Cpl. Vanessa Munn, RCMP media relations officer, said in a statement on April 25.
She added the Surrey RCMP general investigation unit has been working in partnership with B.C. Coroners Service to identify the man, but have so far been unable to do so.

鈥淎t this time, investigators have not established any connections with any ongoing missing persons investigations,鈥� explained Munn. 鈥淒espite a number of investigative steps, the person鈥檚 identity remains unknown.鈥�
However, the B.C. Coroners Service has identified several things about the unknown man.
They say he was between the ages of 20 and 50 at the time of his death. He was between 5鈥�8鈥� to 5鈥�9.5鈥� and had short black hair.
The man also had a tattoo with the word 鈥淎ngelica鈥� in cursive writing on his left upper chest (see photo). He had a tattoo on his right shoulder of a 鈥済reen and red sleeve.鈥� He also had a surgical plate on a bone in his right forearm.
When police found the man鈥檚 remains, he was wearing a blue ball cap (see photo), blue jeans, black Globe brand men鈥檚 skate shoes, a white T-shirt (see image), and a blue Cheetah brand steel wrist watch.
Media relations officer Cst. Sarbjit Sangha said Mounties didn鈥檛 receive a specific timeline from the coroner on when exactly the man died.
鈥淭he body was decomposed significantly,鈥� she said. 鈥淭herefore, most likely, a few months.鈥�
Police are asking anyone who may have information about the man to call the RCMP at 604-599-0502.
