Glover Road in 91原创 re-opened to traffic Wednesday morning, after a gas line was struck Tuesday afternoon by an excavator on site, according to the Township of 91原创 Fire Department.

Area resident Greggy Curtis told the 91原创 Advance Times it appeared a Fortis gas line was struck by an excavator at the intersection.

鈥淟ots of gas leaking and the entire street is blocked off,鈥� Curtis reported.

He took a video from his balcony that shows fire crews on the scene.

Lauren Lea, communications specialist with FortisBC, said crews were called Tuesday afternoon to repair damage to a natural gas system that was caused by a third-party working in the area.

鈥淭he fire department was onsite and evacuated residents in the area and they were able to return home yesterday evening,鈥� she said.

鈥淭here were about 25 outages as a result, and our crews completed repairs late last night. Now that repairs are complete, our crews will be going to each affected property this morning to relight all appliances,鈥� she elaborated.

Garry VanDerveen, pastor at the nearby Christ Covenant Church reported seeing gas venting into the air.

UPDATE 鈥� 8:30am, Nov 10: Glover Road has reopened to traffic. Gas leak has been repaired.

Township of 91原创 posted a traffic alert to advise that Glover Road was closed between Crush/216th and Maxwell 鈥渇or an undetermined period of time due to a gas leak.鈥�

Drivers were advised to take alternative routes to and from Fort 91原创 or Highway 1.
