The final student enrollment figures for the for the current school year show the overall number of students totaled 18,842, down by 137 pupils from the previous school year.
Secretary-treasurer David Green said while the head count (the actual number of boys and girls) was down, the number of 鈥淔ull Time Equivalent鈥 (FTE) students increased by just over 215.
That鈥檚 a reflection of the number of courses students take and the impact of full-day Kindergarten.
The FTE figure is the important number so far as school funding is concerned, because it decides how much money the district will get from the province.
Green said 91原创鈥檚 numbers are relatively stable because the decline in students in many school is made up for by growth in the new neighbourhoods of Willoughby.
鈥淚t鈥檚 because of the growth on the slope鈥 Green said
The biggest increase was in l, up 74, while the biggest drop was in , which fell 156.
Green said the district is starting to see an increase in elementary school enrollments which will, eventually, mean higher secondary enrollments.
