A 28-year-old man from Surry has been charged in relation to a suspicious death in North Delta three year ago.

Just before 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 2, 2022, Delta police responded to the reported overdose death of an 18-year-old woman in the 11800 block of 88A Avenue.

Officers determined the death was suspicious, and an investigation followed.

According to a Delta Police Department press release issued Thursday (Feb. 27, 2025), Travis Gallant, 28, of Surrey was arrested in late November of 2024, and charged with manslaughter and indignity to human remains.

Police say Gallant and the woman were known to each other and there is no risk to the public, however since the matter is before the courts, no further information will be released.

Gallant remains in custody. His next appearance in Surrey Provincial Court is scheduled for March 11.
