Police investigate fatal crash after bicyclist struck by a semi-trailer at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 5).

Surrey Mounties are investigating a fatal collision on 104 Avenue near Scott Road after a bicyclist was struck by a semi-trailer at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 5).

Police closed 104 Avenue to traffic from Scott Road to 122 Street while their investigation continues.

鈥淲hen officers arrived on scene, they located the cyclist who had succumbed to their injuries,鈥 Sgt. Tammy Lobb said. 鈥淭he preliminary investigation indicates the cyclist was travelling west-bound on 104 Avenue, east of the intersection of 120 Street when they lost control of their bicycle and were struck by a semi-truck towing a trailer.鈥

Lobb said impairment or speed don鈥檛 appear to be contributing factors to the crash and that the truck driver is cooperating with police.

Investigators ask witnesses to the crash and people who have dash-cam footage to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
