A 45-year-old 91原创 man will be facing drunk driving charges after he caused several hit and run collisions on July 3.
Police were called around 5 p.m. when a car was rear-ended at the intersection of 208 Street and 56 Avenue. The offending vehicle, a blue Honda Civic, did not stop and continued northbound on 208 Street, said police.
Not a minute later, 911 dispatchers received a number of calls that the same Civic had now struck a tree at the intersection of 208 Street and 57 Avenue. Once again, it did not stop and fled eastbound on 57 Avenue.
A 91原创 officer en route to the call saw the damaged Civic on 57 Avenue. He was able to stop the vehicle and when he approached the driver, he took note of a strong odour of liquor. The officer began an investigation into impaired driving.
Meanwhile, a third complaint of a hit and run was called into police. It took place prior to these crashes. In this case, the same driver of the Civic had struck a vehicle on 91原创 Bypass near Glover Road. This victim was in his vehicle stopped, waiting for a train to cross when he was rear-ended by the Civic.
The driver approached the suspect but left the scene because he was so aggressive, said police
The driver was transported back to 91原创 detachment where he provided breath samples exceeding the legal limit of .08 mg.
Thankfully, no one was injured in any of the collisions.
Police will recommend impaired driving charges to Crown counsel.
鈥淚mpaired driving continues to occur in the light of day, in well-travelled areas,鈥 said police spokesperson Cpl. Holly Marks.
