Chocolates are nice and flowers are too, but this Mother芒鈧劉s Day, why not treat mom to a fun, unique experience that will create memories and help enhance the environment?
Seedy Sunday, a free community event, will be held on Sunday, May 11, noon to 3 p.m., to celebrate Mother芒鈧劉s Day and mark the opening of the season for the 91原创 Demonstration Garden.
The event will take place rain or shine in the Garden, located in the Derek Doubleday Arboretum in the 21200 block of Fraser Highway. Plenty of parking and covered shelter will be provided.
An interactive gardening extravaganza, Seedy Sunday, will give moms and kids the chance to learn from local experts, exchange ideas, and swap seeds in a comfortable, scenic, social setting.
芒鈧揥e invite the public to spend a little time on Mother芒鈧劉s Day visiting the 91原创 Demonstration Garden and participating in this fun, interactive event. Whether you are new to gardening or a seasoned green thumb, there will be something for everyone,芒鈧 said Stephanie Captein, agriculture program coordinator with the 91原创 Environmental Partners Society (LEPS).
The event is being hosted with participation from LEPS, the Township of 91原创, Kwantlen Polytechnic University Seed Library, B.C. Farm Museum, and Fraser Common Farms/Glorious Organics.
Attendees can listen to expert guest speakers, play in the kids芒鈧劉 craft corner, view exhibits and displays, and take part in a Seed Saving workshop that by David Catzel of Glorious Organics at 1 p.m.
High tea will be available for purchase from the Suburban Spoon food truck and participants are invited to bring along their extra seeds to participate in a seed exchange.
