A police and ERT (Emergency Response Team) takedown shocked onlookers outside the Sandman Signature Hotel in North 91原创 near Highway One late Wednesday afternoon.
Posts on social media said there was a heavy police presence at the hotel and a photo has been posted that appears to show heavily armed officers handcuffing a suspect against the hood of a car.
It appears more than one person was taken in custody, a witness said.
Another witness describes the activity as 鈥渄efinitely heavy armed SWAT.鈥�
The takedown was part of a larger ongoing drug investigation by RCMP drug units.
鈥淲e can confirm that this incident involved a few different teams and some support from some other units including some of the integrated teams like the ERT and First Response,鈥� an RCMP spokesperson said. 鈥淎s a result, four persons were taken into custody.
鈥淪afe to say it was conducted by our drug unit here in Surrey and is part of a larger effort to curb drug trafficking in the community.鈥�
Earlier this year, Tyrell Sinnott, 20, was gunned down in in the hotel parking lot.
More information about the Aug. 16 takedown, and arrests and charges, is expected in the coming days.
