A cab driver was punched in the head when a passenger swiped his cellphone during a December robbery, 91原创 RCMP say.
At 2 a.m. on Dec. 13, two men got into a cab and asked to be taken to 196th Street and Fraser Highway, indicating they didn芒鈧劉t have enough money to go all the way back to Surrey.
When they reached Fraser Highway and the 91原创-Surrey border, one of the two passengers reached over the seats and grabbed the driver芒鈧劉s iPhone off the car芒鈧劉s console, said Cpl. Holly Marks, a spokesperson for the 91原创 RCMP.
The driver tried to take the phone back, and received a punch to the head in response.
Both men got out of the car and ran away on foot.
Both men are Caucasian, and the one who stole the phone and attacked the driver is described as in his late 20s, with short hair and a scruffy appearance. He had a distinctive tattoo of a skull on the back of his right hand.
Photos from the camera of the cab are being released, and police are asking the public to help them identify the suspect. The suspect virtually looked directly into the camera, and his tattoo was highly visible in some images.
