Police have identified 18-year-old Jaspreet Sidhu as the victim of Friday鈥檚 brazen daytime shooting.

Sidhu was killed after suffering shots to the chest on .

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says the shooting was targeted. Sidhu was known to police and affiliated with gang activity, IHIT said in a statement.

Abbotsford Police are also investigating a shooting that Sunday morning, but it鈥檚 too early in that investigation to say if the two incidents are connected.

Driving a white Chrysler 300 in Abbotsford, Sidhu was apparently shot in the chest and fled the scene, turning down George Ferguson Way on Friday afternoon.

He didn鈥檛 get far before crashing into an apartment building, narrowly missing a woman outside at the time. On Friday, the woman鈥檚 son, Eric Boldt, said his mother was shaken up, but OK.

Sidhu was heard saying, 鈥淚鈥檓 dying! I鈥檓 dying!鈥 before ambulance personnel arrived. Paramedics had to free the man from his vehicle through the apartment, police said.

He was taken to hospital but died shortly after.

Police continue to look for a suspect, believed to be a man described as 5鈥 11鈥 with a medium build and wearing black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up, and sunglasses.

Anyone with information about this male is asked to contact police.

鈥淭his was a brazen shooting that occurred in a residential neighbourhood, and it was a blatant disregard for the safety of the public,鈥 IHIT Cpl. Meghan Foster said.

鈥淚t has been said many times before, but if you are involved in criminal activity, then you are not immune to the dangers that come with it. This is another example of a young life that has been lost too soon, and a family has been left devastated.鈥
