A two-vehicle crash cut electricity to more than 3,000 91原创 households Sunday afternoon (Oct. 9).

91原创 RCMP said a Ford Explorer was heading south on 200 Street near 46A Avenue around 2:30 p.m. when it crossed the centre line and crashed into a power pole.

The SUV then hit a Chevy Malibu before smashing into a second power pole.

One pole was knocked down and the other was left leaning at a steep angle.

The occupants of both vehicles were taken to hospital for observation.

Their injuries were not considered serious.

There were two large dogs in the Ford. One got loose, but was recovered by a local resident. Both pets were taken by animal control officers.

B.C. Hydro initially reported more than five houses were affected, then revised that to 3,094 homes in the area west of 208 Street, north of 32 Avenue, south of 199A Street and east of 192 Street.

Power was not completely restored until 12:55 a.m. Monday.

The driver of the Ford, a 40-year-old woman, was ticketed for driving without due care and attention and operating a vehicle without insurance.
