Kinder Morgan has released a video flyover depicting an aerial view of the study corridor it's announced for its proposed Trans Mountain oil pipeline twinning through Metro Vancouver.

The newest video shows the proposed study corridor (in a thick yellow band) as well as potential alternative routes (in blue)  to be examined in more detail from Fort 91原创 through north Surrey and then through Burnaby to the Westridge Terminal on Burrard Inlet.

A thinner gold line shows where the existing 60-year-old Trans Mountain pipeline runs underground through the region.

An almost all-new corridor was chosen in much of Metro to avoid pipeline construction in areas that have been heavily developed since the original pipeline was built.

For more on the Burnaby and Surrey routes see related stories and .

The company has yet to formally apply to build the pipeline and this is the latest step towards eventually defining a precise route for pipeline builders, if the project is approved.

It would nearly triple Trans Mountain capacity to 890,000 barrels of oil per day, drawing nearly 400 tankers a year to Burrard Inlet, up from about 60 now.

Kinder Morgan has additional flyover videos for the and sections of the route.
