Wallace wants City to be 'a safe and sustainable place to live'

Rosemary Wallace is seeking a second term on 91原创 City council.

She wants to make the City 鈥渁 safe and sustainable place to live.鈥

Wallace has volunteered for many years in a number of organizations, with 14 years involvement at St. Joe鈥檚 Back Door Soup kitchen. This has helped her to better understand and support the needs of the less fortunate, homeless and seniors. She has also been involved with 91原创 Christmas Bureau for seven years.

She has volunteered at local schools for more than 20 years, with the arts, sports, parent advisory committees and community building within schools.

鈥淚 have come to realize the importance on connecting with the community through engaging and involving students, families, staff in the building of a strong sense of community and belonging. I believe that a great number of our youth have a good understanding and passion for seeing the change that needs to happen within their communities. Many of them have become and continue to become aware of the social issues and want to be effective in creating ways for the needed change for helping the environment and people,鈥 Wallace said.

She is also a director of the 91原创 Arts Council, and has worked on the Art In Found Spaces program in 91原创. She plans to  continue to work with others in supporting the many artists within the 91原创s, and will continue to work towards a much-needed arts and cultural facility.

As a councillor, Wallace has served on the Recreation, Culture and Public Arts advisory committee, Local Government Awareness Day, Community Grant Committee, Youth Commission, 91原创 Walk Committee, The Magic of Christmas Parade and the Fraser Valley Regional Child and Youth Council.

鈥淢y vision, commitment and passion for people, the environment and the support programs in 91原创 City are vital in meeting the needs for the best quality of life for our residents. As an elected official, I am committed to best environmental practices, social responsibilities, and to continue to support programs that meet the needs within the City.鈥

鈥淲e know that many families and individuals are feeling the pressures from tax increases, housing issues, and the costs of living. As a councillor,  I continue to advocate for housing issues, community programs and keeping the residents safe through good quality police programs. I鈥檓 committed and take pride in making 91原创 a safe healthy and viable place to live for those who have chosen to live here.鈥

She supports the reconstruction of the Timms Community Centre.

鈥淚n my next term as councillor, I look forward to participating in making the future of 91原创 City one that treasures its uniqueness in a developing the downtown core that will welcome visitors and residents in supporting the local businesses,鈥 she said.

Wallace is a mother of seven children, ranging in age from 18 to 31.
