Archibald Campbell (Archie) Barr

August 15, 1923 - July 26, 2016

It is with sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Archie Barr at his home in Sardis. He is survived by his daughters, Heather (Don) Forbes & Brenda (Barry) MacIntyre, grandchildren Joanna (Je ) Kasper Jordie (Jen) Forbes, Gary (Kendra) Forbes, Shannon (Kyle) Hopfner, Robin Forbes (Carlie), Brent MacIntyre (Carrie) and Kristin MacIntyre (Matt), and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by this wife of 60 years, Edith (nee Higginson), and his brothers, Bill and Bob. He was born and grew up in rural Alberta, where he joined the army, then served overseas in World War II. He and Edith were married in 1948, and they farmed on Higginson Road in Sardis with Edith鈥檚 brother Leonard and wife Helen. He was active in St. John鈥檚 church and was always willing to lend a hand to friends and neighbours. He deserved and received the love and a ection of all his family. Those who knew him will miss his warm sense of humour and kind heart. A Memorial Service will be held at St. John鈥檚 Anglican Church, 46078 Higginson Road, Sardis at 3pm on Friday, August 5, 2016. Donations in Archie鈥檚 memory may be made to St. John鈥檚 Anglican Church or the charity of your choice.
