In Loving Memory ~

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Gail Nielsen Dance on March 26, 2025, surrounded by family. Gail was open-hearted, wise, generous, vibrant, and always ready with a smile and supportive word. Her zest for life, love of community, and devotion to her family inspired all who knew her.

She is lovingly remembered by her children Serena

Gregg (Nielsen), Venetia Nielsen, and Richard Nielsen;

daughter-in-law Robin Arthurs; and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Leah Gregg, Jen Harvey, Brodyn Nielsen, Kodi Nielsen, Beau Nielsen, Layne Nielsen, Brooklyn Nielsen, Martin Bourque, Tom Gregg (Chloe, Ruben, Mia), Simon Gregg (Elise, Kai, Anna), Ben Holden, and Kyle Holden. Gail was "Grams" to all, including her extended hockey family and grand dogs. Gail is predeceased by her husband's William Peter Nielsen and John Albert Dance, her daughter Mary Nielsen, and her son-in-law John Gregg.

Born in Winnipeg and raised on the West Coast, Gail brought warmth and sparkle wherever she lived. Her home was a haven of hospitality, laughter, and celebration. Her legendary green thumb turned gardens into retreats, and her door was always open to anyone in need. Gail was a successful businesswoman and active in the Rotary Club. She hosted Cub Scouts, exchange students, and many hockey families over the years. She found joy in every stage of life-from early Catholic school days to Burning Man festivals in her golden years. She was a fierce ally to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and loved attending Pride events giving hugs to all because Grams Loves Hugs. In her final years, Gail found peace and joy living with family in Squamish and often shared how content she felt. While we mourn her loss, we take comfort in knowing her generous, joyful spirit lives on in all who knew her.
