WILKES, Len
Len Wilkes passed on January 28, his loving wife, Sharon at his side in Calgary, AB. His family is grateful to have learned from him and shared his joyful life and are struggling with broken hearts. Born September 19, 1936 in Nipawin, SK, Len ventured to Vanderhoof, BC as a very young man operating machinery for the Department of Highways. He married Eileen and they began their family, soon relocating to Burnaby. Len gained independence as an operating engineer. Fort 91原创 became home in 1972 and Len was known by his many friends as a man who loved to laugh and who always had time to help a neighbour. Len and Sharon transferred to Calgary where they could be central to their combined family in 1999. He always missed BC, referring to it as Gods Country and returned often to visit loved ones. Len leaves behind wife Sharon, (Calgary, AB), sisters, Gladys (Mt Unaiche, NS), June (Loreburn, SK), Kathleen (Hawarden, SK) and brother, Dennis (Surrey, BC). His daughters, Sandra (Roland) Krauer (Penticton BC), Tracy (Jack) Rees (91原创 BC) & Terri (Kevan Kevener) Wilkes (Abbotsford, BC), & stepchildren Cory (Carrie) Overlid, Janine (Simon) and Angela (Russ) Lawrie feel a huge emptiness. Sorrowfully, Len was predeceased by son, Rob at 17. Len's 14 Grandchildren are growing into exceptional people in part as a result of his positive influence and steadfast love. A Celebration of Len's Life will be held at 20078 Fernridge Cres, 91原创, BC on March 7 at 10am. Please come prepared to share a happy memory and wear anything but black.
