LETTER: 91原创 City's Bellingham invitation doesn't erase president's actions

"Canada is an ally to our neighbours who wish to be so but we are not the fool in the circus of fools who wish to undermine our nation  and command our future"

Bellingham has written to 91原创 City and other border communities.

Dear Editor,

[Re: City council invites Bellingham counterparts to visit, 91原创 Advance Times, July 9]

Offering an olive branch while Trump tries to burn the tree. Hands across the community table or one could say across that imaginary border line as Trump says that was randomly drawn on a map that separates our great nation from theirs, and it should be erased, rubbed out to form one nation, United States.

The United States of America doesn鈥檛 seem to be united right now and the States in America seem to be unable to control their own president as their Constitution is being violated and under attack from the presidency.

Olive branches being offered while the fruit of the country of United States spoils and the country鈥檚 imaginary history marches against the government.

Plant a tree the mayor says while Canada experiences the ambitious fruit of its contentious neighbour the United States which riddles our great country with tariffs and tries to destroys our homeland and way of life. Our Canadian water may well give growth to this tree or it may wither and die, but not from the care we will give it, but from the winds that blow across our border that sends the unpredictable climates of change from democracy to fascism.

The winds of war, not exactly, it鈥檚 more a war of control. Who is the big banana! Who is going to carry the big stick. Who wants to be dictator for life and wants to be the one who absorbs nations by any means possible. It is the wind of ill content.

The so-called United States has become a bone quarry of unpredictable gestures with very little effort to make allies anymore. It has become a shadow of its former self. A dried prune lying on the ground beneath an orchard of fig trees.

Invite as many as possible from United States to Canada as a gesture, but not a fig of a chance that a pipe will be smoked. This country needs a healthier future than what is being offered, an orchard full of growth and potential, with a better environment for our future than what we have next to us right now disguised as a democratic democracy but is disintegrating into chaos and destruction with its policies.

Canada is an ally to our neighbours who wish to be so but we are not the fool in the circus of fools who wish to undermine our nation  and command our future. We are a nation of people whose will will outstretch a hand in friendship but also expect it in return.

A visit from the representatives is nice, but I would hope they will also visit the president and voice their displeasure and concerns, and demands to make what is wrong right.

Canada is united more so than United States. We are a diverse nation with a common goal and a sense of history. We, as a nation, have borders and they have been drawn on maps throughout the world and in the global universe of this world. This will never change. The borders of Canada are in our hearts and conveyed in our friendship and that should never be abused or taken for granted as it distinguishes us from others.

The United States has become a question mark now.

Diplomacy. I rather see them, the mayor of 91原创 City and the mayor of Bellingham at the border crossing where this imaginary drawn line Trump dislikes so much to be drawn on the grass and the two mayors with hands across the border shaking rigorously in a gesture of unity.

The unity of two nations, whether it be two municipalities or two states or two countries, in a single day is something Trump needs to learn, but in the real world of Trumpism, is this possible? I think not.
