Dear Editor,
Open letter to
Prime Minister Mark Carney, Premier David Eby, Premiers across Canada
Mega projects for the benefit of Canada – I would hope you would consider this as a possible benefit for Canadians across Canada.
Utilize natural hot springs for thermal heating or electricity for green houses. Pipelines to bring the heat and power to the structures if needed for long distances.
how many natural hot springs are in Canada and the use of wind or solar power for the heating and power of these structures, I am not talking about small green houses but mega-sized greenhouses either structured on the ground or raised above the ground on farming land where you may have two producing areas of products growing at same time or at cycles of growing on land that that is not suitable for the traditional way of growing produce.
Climate change is unpredictable with natural disasters such as drought, fires, flooding and other unpredictable weather patterns, and as time advances upon this country, what lies ahead is unknown as how dynamic and disastrous it will be on our capabilities to grow our produce in a seasonal climate change.
Infrastructure will be needed and possible consideration of the possibility to build some of these structures next to a water supply such as a lake or underground rivers to protect the investment from drought. A water collection method from rain could be utilized also to have large cisterns of water in case of drought or water shortage. Am I talking about Noah’s Ark, no, but protecting the investment and securing our food resources.
Sometimes the future can be built on an idea and securing the future from possible disasters by a thought and building upon it.
I believe it is important to secure our food production from disasters but also, to start another industry that will run on green energy to save ourselves and this planet.
Mega projects – not an acre, but on acres across Canada in every province and territory; an industry and a world of produce in a world with a future, and Canada would lead in it.
Food security is just not important, but it is based on our very survival and also, the hopeful possibility to lower the prices on produce when it is out of season from the traditional method of our growing seasons. The northern part of Canada would benefit from this and secluded areas where the First Nations live as well all who may inhabit the area.
Just a thought of a portable greenhouse that can be used for the armed forces that are stationed in areas other than Canada for long periods of time in other countries that could have this structure up and running within a day or less for fresh produce later that would otherwise not be available where they are stationed. Trained personnel to run it within the armed forces with the possibility to donate some of this produce to local communities and to families who are in dire need, and to create a climate of trust and compassion.
The country needs to outrun climate change with a change of how we grow our crops and to produce year-round crops, I believe this may become crucial unless we stop destroying the earth we live upon.
Utilizing the natural green energy we have is a planet saver and possibly a lifesaver.
Food for thought.
