Dear Editor,

On June 23, the Township council approved a rezoning application in Fort 91原创 that increased residential density from 47 to 76 units on a single site at Glover Road and Church Street. That is a 62 per cent increase. There was no public hearing. No parking study. No infrastructure review for water or sewer. Just three readings and a vote.

Township staff confirmed the public hearing was not required under provincial law. They said the new unit count complied with minimum parking rules. But nothing in the public record shows any serious evaluation of how this development will affect daily life in Fort 91原创. Parking is already scarce, and every new unit adds pressure on aging water and sewer infrastructure.

There is a larger question residents deserve an answer to. The applicant in this case was Fort 91原创 Properties Ltd., which is owned by the mayor鈥檚 foundation. Didn鈥檛 he promise that profits from developments like this would be returned to the community? When will the mayor publish how much Fort 91原创 Properties is expected to earn from this project? When will the foundation tell residents how much it intends to contribute, and to what?

The vote has already passed. But the obligation to answer those questions has not.
