Letter: 91Ô´´ Township mayor defends OCP process

Dear Editor,

Response to Donna Brown:

Thank you for your email outlining your concerns.  I was copied on Councilor Fox’s email that explained the council process, so I won’t repeat. However, I would like to provide some input on your concerns.

The motion in front of council today is to proceed with an update to the existing 1987 Brookswook/Fernridge Official Community Plan, focussing on the undeveloped area in the Southern portion of the plan. If council proceeds with the update, it will provide the residents and property owners an opportunity to further shape their community in a way that meets the needs of our community, while reflecting the unique characteristics of Brookswood/Fernridge.

It is important to note that if the update does not proceed then the existing plan will be the guiding document for development.  If the update does proceed there will be several opportunities for you and your neighbours to provide valuable input prior to the update being presented to council within the next 12 to 18 months.

I appreciate your comments and input and am available to discuss this further with you. If you wish to contact me, please call my office at 604-533-6000.

Jack Froese, Mayor, Township of 91Ô´´
