Editor: In her letter to the editor (The Times, March 23), Susan Hitchman complains about the federal Liberals abolishing the Family Tax Cut, Universal Child Care Benefit and reducing the TFSA limit, asking, 鈥淒oes Mr. Trudeau think we consented to that?鈥�
Well, yes, we did consent.
During last year鈥檚 election the Liberal Party platform stated clearly that they would do exactly that and, surprise, the Liberals won the election.
Funding that would have been used for the FTC and UCCB programs is now part of the Canada Child Benefit, a much fairer income tested monthly benefit for families with children.
And, unlike the UCCB, the Canada Child Benefit is not taxable.
