On Monday, Feb. 13, the Township of 91原创 council (TOL) gave approval to the controversial Wall development on a parcel of agricultural land adjacent to Trinity Western University (TWU).
This proposal is the epitome of what the ALR was established to prevent.
For the ALC to retain any credibility, this proposal must be unconditionally rejected.
Failure to do so will further increase the general public skepticism towards the ALR Act and enhance the view that the ALR has devolved into the DLR (Developers Land Reserve).
It was not the intent of the act to set aside all agricultural land as a cash cow for the rich, powerful and influential.
As the public rejection of the 64 Avenue overpass has already demonstrated, the residents of TOL fiercely protect the original, historically important, farm 鈥� the Hudson Bay Company (HBC) Farm, 鈥攚ithin which this development is sited.
should be preserved in perpetuity as a national historical monument. Without it, what is now British Columbia would probably have fallen under U.S. control and Canada, as it is, would not exist.
