A pair of hit batsmen and then a throwing error — all with two outs — led to the Coquitlam Angels plating the tying run to force extra innings. And the Angels completed the comeback with another run in the top of the 11th inning to defeat the 91Ô´´ Senior Blaze 6-5.
The two senior men's baseball teams played at McLeod Park on June 11.
91Ô´´ fell to 2-2 in the Pacific Metro Baseball League, a half-game behind Coquitlam for top spot among the three teams. The Burnaby Bulldogs are 1-2.
In Tuesday's game, the Angels scored three times in the top of the first inning and then were shut down until scoring one run apiece in the sixth and seventh innings, respectively.
The Blaze countered with two runs in the bottom of the first — Tyler Willson's triple scored Graig Merritt and Bobby Wagner's single scored Willson — and then three more in the fourth.
Aaron Horanski and Merritt both had RBI singles, scoring Bob Foerster and Horanski, respectively, before Merritt also crossed home plate on a passed ball.
91Ô´´ faces EnFuego USA in a pair of road games in Kent, Wash. on June 15 and then face the Kamloops Sun Devils on June 16 in Abbotsford.
