Blaze rally comes up short in season opener

The 91原创 Blaze came up short in a 4-3 season opening loss to the Abbotsford Cardinals.

The Cardinals scored three runs in the fourth and then tacked another run in the sixth on Tuesday night at McLeod Park in 91原创鈥檚 B.C. Premier Baseball League season opener.

The Blaze rallied to score three runs in the seventh and final inning, but came up short in their quest to force extra innings.

Justin Lawrence scored Nick Rutckyj with a double, and then later crossed home plate himself. Griffin Andreychuck then brought home Shoma Sasaki to make it 4-3.

And 91原创 had runners on the corner, but could not cash in the tying run.

Grahame Bailey was tagged with the loss, allowing two hits and one run in the sixth inning.

The Blaze are back in action on April 13 as they visit the North Delta Blue Jays for a doubleheader. They also host the Vancouver Cannons on April 14 at McLeod Park with games at noon and 3 p.m.
