Matt Chapdelaine, a 2010 draft pick of the B.C. Lions, was the guest speaker at 91Ô´´ Fundamental’s annual athletic banquet last week (June 5).
Chapdelaine, who now runs MPWR Coaching — a coaching and training company for high performance athletes — told the students that it wasn’t until he started thinking about how he could give rather than take that his life rewards started to pour in. He challenged the students to think about what they could do to invest in the lives of their friends and to give back to their school and community.
Highlights of the banquet included honouring Hannah Beaton, who earned the bronze medal in the heptathlon at the B.C. high school track and field championships, as well as a fifth-place finish in the javelin.
Both the senior girls and boys volleyball teams were also honoured for qualifying for the provincial championships, where they placed sixth and seventh, respectively.
