Three members of the Trinity Western Spartans volleyball teams were honoured as all-Canadians.

Nick Del Bianco was named a first-team all-Canadian at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport national championships award banquet at the Universel Hotel in Quebec City.

The Spartans men's volleyball team is there for the CIS national championships, which run March 1-3. Trinity Western is seeded second.

Del Bianco, a third-year outside hitter for the team, finished sixth in Canada West conference play with 3.65 kills per set and was fifth in the conference with 4.30 points per set. He was also tops with 0.41 aces per set.

It is the second national honour for Del Bianco in three years, as he was named to the CIS all-rookie team in 2010/11.

And at the CIS women's volleyball awards banquet in Sherbrooke, Que., setter Kelci French and middle Alicia Perrin both earned second-team all-star honours.

The banquet was held at the Delta Hotel.

For Perrin, it was the second straight year she was a second-team all-Canadian while it was the first time for French.

French was the CIS rookie of the year and a part of the CIS all-rookie team in 2010/11 when she played for the Alberta Pandas.

Perrin finished the regular season second in Canada West in blocks with 1.31 per set, third in the conference in hitting percentage at .336 and ninth in points with 3.57 per set.

French finished the regular season tied for first in the conference with 0.53 aces per set, was sixth in Canada West with 8.80 assists per set and was third on TWU in digs, with 2.18 per set. French also set the TWU record for aces in a season, with 39, bettering current TWU assistant coach Lies Reimer鈥檚 (former Verhoeff) previous mark of 36.

The Spartans opened the CIS national championships on Feb, 28, defeating the Dalhousie Tigers 3-0 in the quarter-finals.

Trinity Western made quick work, winning 25-13, 25-18 and 25-19.

Perrin was named player of the match for the Spartans.

Up next will be the national semifinals against top-seed UBC. The Spartans are seeded fourth.
