The 91原创 Atom A4 Eagles continue their remarkable run, winning their third consecutive hockey tournament.
The most recent victory was at the Abbotsford Atom Rep Tournament, which ran Dec. 27 to Dec. 29.
And the Eagles faced some adversity in making it happen.
The team had a slow start to the tournament, getting shut-out 5-0 in the opening game to the host Abbotsford A3 Hawks. But that was the team鈥檚 lone blemish at the tournament and after finishing second in their pool, the turned the tables on the Hawks in the championship final, delivering a 4-0 victory over the same Abbotsford squad to be crowned tier 3 champs.
And to make the finals, 91原创 needed to rally in the semifinals as they trailed the Portland Junior A Hawks 4-1. But the Eagles scored six of the final seven goals to win 7-5.
鈥淭he kids battled hard against Portland, and showed great determination to fight back from a three-goal deficit,鈥 said coach Gary Bowsher.
鈥淭hey never gave up and played as a strong cohesive team that has trust in each other.
鈥淭he boys carried their momentum into the finals to take home gold (and) winning three tournaments in a row is definitely an impressive record.鈥
In the team鈥檚 other three round robin games, they topped Portland 6-5, beat Aldergrove A1 7-2 and the Cowichan Capitals 6-1.
