Playing a pair of likely playoff teams, the kept things close, but were ultimately only able to secure one out of a possible four points.

The junior A hockey club could not hold onto a third-period lead, losing 3-2 on Thursday as the visiting Cowichan Valley Capitals scored twice in the final 11 minutes.

And then on Saturday, at the South Surrey Arena, 91原创 forced overtime with a Mike Tebbutt power play goal with under five minutes remaining but lost 3-2 in double overtime to the Surrey Eagles.

Jackson Playfair opened the scoring for the 91原创 visitors, scoring from in tight on Eagles goalie Connor Barrie.

Playfair took a one-touch pass from Peter McMullen near the post and beat Barrie through the five-hole.

Surrey captain Tyler Morley got the home side back on even terms later in the first as he flew down the wing and beat 91原创 goalie Jim Kruger up high from in tight.

Neither team could find the back of the net in the second period and Surrey took its first lead midway through the third when Brandon Tanev was able to sneak a shot between Kruger's legs for the go-ahead goal.

However, on a late power play, Tebbutt found the puck in the slot and ripped it past Barrie for the equalizer.

After neither team scored during four-on-four overtime, the teams switched to three-on-three and Surrey's Alex Hagen spotted a loose puck in the slot and ended the game.

Kruger was the game's second star for his 39-save performance.

Hosting Cowichan Valley, the Capitals Darrin Robak opened the scoring in the first, but McMullen responded back for the 91原创.

Darnell Dyck scored on the power play in the second, banging in the puck from the side of the net to give 91原创 a 2-1 lead heading into the third.

But Logan Proulx tied the score at 9:39 and Keyler Bruce struck for the winner with 1:41 remaining in regulation.
