It is described as part dance, part circus, part gymnastics and fully-fledged family entertainment: equestrian vaulting.
Equestrian vaulting is the performance of gymnastics and dance on a moving horse.
And it will be on display this Sunday (May 5) at Horse Play Your Way (4671 256 St.) with Buddy鈥檚 Vaultapalooza. It begins at 9 a.m.
Equestrian vaulting is a safe and fun way to introduce people to horseback riding. The horse is controlled by a lunger who sends him in a circle around them on the end of a lunge line. Vaulters begin working in walk and progress, with training, to be able to execute fantastic freestyle performances in the canter.
The Equestrian Vaulting Association of BC will stage a pair of major competitions in 91原创 this summer.
The first is the Equine Canada Vaulting competition, which will run June 14 to 16 at High Point Equestrian Centre.
The second will be the provincial championships, which will be held at Thunderbird Show Park in September.
