91原创 forward lands scholarship with UMass Lowell

91原创 91原创's Evan Campbell has committed to UMass Lowell.

Evan Campbell is trading his 91原创 jersey for one of the River Hawks.

Following a torrid start to the season, the 91原创 91原创 forward has committed to the UMass Lowell River Hawks hockey program.

The Port Coquitlam native has scored twice and set up six others in three games so far in the BCHL season. He missed the first couple of games of the season to injury.

"He had a rough start going down with an injury in training camp, but he has worked very hard to get back in the line-up," said 91原创 coach and general manager Bobby Henderson.

"We are seeing just a glimpse of what is to come with the start he has had so far."

Campbell, a 19-year-old forward from Port Coquitlam, is in his second season with 91原创.

He joined the 91原创 part way through last season after starting with Coquitlam.

Campbell finished with 12 goals and nine assists in 48 games with the two junior A hockey clubs.

"Evan focuses a lot of his time this off-season into training and it's the hardest he has worked and even put on 15 pounds to show for it," Henderson said.

"He has gone through a lot of adversity in his young career so far and we believe the sky is the limit for this kid."

Campbell is six-foot-two and weighs 190 pounds.

He will join the River Hawks in either 2013 or 2014. He is the fourth player on the 91原创 roster to commit to a U.S. school.

The 91原创 host Prince George twice this weekend at the 91原创 Events Centre. The teams face off on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
