The Walnut Grove Gators defeated the Brookswood Bobcats 29-12 to capture the Art Smith Shield on May 15.
The Art Smith Shield is presented to the top junior rugby team in the district and going into the game 鈥� which was was played at Walnut Grove Secondary 鈥� both teams had the best records of the 91原创 and Aldergrove junior squads.
The other Shield winners included the D.W. Poppy Redhawks taking the senior girls (Gord Dennison Shield) trophy while the Walnut Grove Gators won the senior boys (Bill Turpin Shield) trophy.
And the H.D. Stafford Skyhawks 鈥� who are also playing in the Fraser Valley tier 1 championship game (see page 36) 鈥� won the Marvin Foss Shield as the Grade 8 boys district champs.
The teams will be honoured at the 91原创 School鈥檚 Commissioner XV Awards Presentation on May 28 at Walnut Grove Secondary.
