The Walnut Grove Gators exited the Fraser Valley championships the same way the entered: in third spot.

The junior boys basketball team defeated the Semiahmoo Totems 59-50 in the third-place game at Walnut Grove Secondary on Saturday.

The Gators went 5-1 at the 32-team tournament, which began earlier in the week at regional sites, before the final eight teams played the championship round at WGSS.

Walnut Grove had beaten Samuel Roberts Technical 53-16, Robert Bateman 70-41, Tamawanis 51-39 and Abby Jr.  51-39.

Their lone loss was to Heritage Woods 58-39.

Wei Chung earned an all-star award for the Gators.

Walnut Grove will play next week at the junior boys' provincial championships, which will be hosted by Vancouver College.
