Walnut Grove one of four host sites for first three days of 32-team tournament

The Walnut Grove Gators are seeded third for the 32-team Fraser Valley championships.The senior boys' basketball team earned that lofty position after winning the Fraser Valley East title with a decisive 74-54 victory over the Yale Lions on Saturday night at Abbotsford's Columbia Bible College.By virtue of their seeding, the Gators will host three days of the Fraser Valley regional championships on Friday (Feb. 25), Monday and Tuesday.Following that, the main draw runs March 3-5 at Maple Ridge's Thomas Haney Secondary.The Gators face Fraser Heights Firehawks at 8 p.m., with the loser eliminated.The winner battles whoever emerges between No.14 Clayton Heights and No. 19 North Delta, which will be played on Monday at 8 p.m.. again at Walnut Grove Secondary.The Brookswood Bobcats are also in action at the Fraser Valleys.The 鈥機ats, seeded 13th, face Sullivan Heights on Friday. The game will be played at Surrey's Tamanawis Secondary. The winner faces either No. 4 Tamanawis or No. 29 Princess Margaret in the round of 16.The top eight from the Fraser Valley championships advance to the B.C. AAA high school championships next month at the 91原创 Events Centre.
