It was a busy week for Andy Kim as the 91原创 golfer competed in a pair of tournaments, finishing tied for third in one and placing fifth in the other.
The 14-year-old also won the Mr. Lube long drive competition in the first event.
Kim was one of two local golfers who finished in third spot in their respective divisions at the first event, while another pair cracked the top 10.
The four were competing at the Maple Leaf Junior (MJT) Golf Tour鈥檚 two-day stop at Hazelmere Golf Course in Surrey on Aug. 18 and 19.
Kim shot rounds of 73 and 81 to finish with a 154 in the bantam boys division.
Vancouver鈥檚 Raymond Li won with a 144.
Jessica Wu, 14, also finished third in the girls division.
She shot rounds of 74 and 81 to finish at 155.
Vancouver鈥檚 Tiffany Kong took top spot with a 143.
In the juvenile boys division, Daniel Hyun, 15, shot 74-82 to finish in ninth spot at 156.
Surrey鈥檚 Taylor Patrick was first with a 144.
And Trevor Whiton, 18, had rounds of 75 and 79 for a 36-round score of 154. That placed him ninth in the junior boys division.
This was the most competitive of the divisions as Dewdney鈥檚 Jake Scarrow shot a 145 and then won a three-person playoff which consisted of an extra four holes.
Later in the week, Kim took part in the B.C. Golf Association鈥檚 bantam boys championships, which was held at the Meadowlands Golf and Country Club on Aug. 21 and 22.
Kim shot 70 and 72 to finish with a 2-over-par 142.
Vancouver鈥檚 Andrew Spalti won with a 138.
Another 91原创 golfer, Jess Lee shot a pair of 73s to finish at 146, which was good for tenth spot.
