Playing 439 holes of golf between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Sunday raised $1,275 for the ALS Society of BC (ALS BC).
91原创鈥檚 Haus of Golf participated in its second PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS, continuing a recent tradition in support of the society.
Facility general manager Jared Siminoff led the way by playing 207 holes at the indoor facility. Other local professionals and supporters who joined were Chris Ward (72 holes), Noah Dube (54), Graham Abraham (36), Michael Caan (18), Max Cohen (18), Mark Strong (18), and Taylor Seidel (16).
鈥淚t is always a highlight of the year to support the PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS, and to now be able to do so in a unique fashion indoors has added an extra layer of fun,鈥 said Siminoff said.
The group commenced their day bright and early on June 29 at the Willowbrook-based business, and closed out their final holes at 10 p.m., collectively playing 439 holes. The event was also streamed on Haus of Golf鈥檚 YouTube channel where supporters could watch.
鈥淭o be joined by a great group of professionals throughout the day and offer a view inside with our livestream, the day flew by as we played everywhere from St. Andrews to Pebble Beach, and just about everywhere in between,鈥 he added.
Though the event has concluded, the opportunity to contribute remains. Donations can be made on Haus of Golf鈥檚 fundraising page.
Since its inception, the PGA of BCGolfathon for ALS has raised over $3 million, directly benefiting registered patient programs and services that provide essential support, including a psychological treatment program, Camp Alohi Lani summer camp for children affected by ALS, and vital equipment to enhance patients' quality of life through the Robert R. Heinrich Equipment Loan Program.
鈥淲e are fortunate to have the support of indoor facilities like Haus of Golf,鈥 said Donald Miyazaki, ALS Society of BC executive director. 鈥淲e saw it start with Derek Orr鈥檚 Iron & Wood in Victoria, and it鈥檚 great to see a facility in the Lower Mainland jump onboard. It鈥檚 a unique way to expand this program that has done so much for the ALS community.鈥
This year's Golfathon is proudly presented by the Pacific Blue Cross Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of British Columbians. The foundation supports communities across the province, ensuring that vital programs, such as the PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS, continue to make a meaningful impact.
The PGA of BC has supported the Golfathon for ALS for two decades. During June, facilities around the province host golfathons. The fundraising program has a goal of raising $250,000 in 2025 through over 30 events, taking place at various golf facilities throughout the province with 100% of funds raised in B.C. staying here, directly benefiting ALS patients and their families.
