91原创 Jr. Blaze鈥檚 Nick Rutckyj readies to slide home before Victoria Jr. Mariners catcher Evan Willow can apply the tag during Sunday鈥檚 doubleheader at McLeod Park. Victoria won the opener 2-1 before the Blaze responded with a 4-0 victory.

With the season hitting the stretch drive, the 91原创 Jr. Blaze continue their neck-and-neck race for top spot in the B.C. Junior Premier U16 Baseball League.

The Blaze shook off the disappointment of a 2-1 loss in the opening game of a Sunday doubleheader against the Victoria Jr. Mariners, to post a 4-0 shutout in game two at McLeod Park.

91原创 (27-5) has won seven of their past 10 games and holds a one-and-a-half game lead over the North Delta Jr. Blue Jays (24-5).

Justin Lawrence drove in a pair of runs, while Mitchell Robinson had one RBI.

And that was more than enough offence for Liam Stroud, who scattered three hits over six innings. He also stuck out eight.

In 91原创鈥檚 loss, Victoria won 2-1 despite getting just one hit, a fourth-inning double which scored a pair. The Mariners were able to take advantage of the four walks issued by Ashton Mantle. Despite that, Mantle was solid with nine strikeouts over seven innings.

91原创鈥檚 lone run came in the fifth when Preston Kokatailo drove in Lawrence with a single.
