A strong pipeline of talent from 91原创 helped Surrey United Soccer Club win multiple provincial titles over the Canada Day weekend.
Nineteen 91原创 players helped three Surrey squads to the gold medal and a berth to their various age group national championships.
The teams were competing at the B.C. Soccer Premier League championships held in Richmond.
Surrey United won the provincial final in the U14, U15 and U16 age groups.
The 91原创 United Youth Soccer Association had joined together with Surrey United and Guildford to form a Premier League partnership in which all three clubs contributed players, coaches, managers and fields under the Surrey United umbrella.
"91原创 United believes this partnership with Surrey United and Guildford has provided an excellent avenue for our 91原创 boys to be challenged and excel and reach the highest level possible," said LUYSA president Betty Boucas.
"It was a very successful year."
Martin Foden, the executive director of Surrey United SC, praised 91原创 United youth Soccer Association and the Guildford Athletic Club, two groups which partnered with Surrey United SC to form the youth teams in the Premier league.
鈥淭hey have provided, so unselfishly, our BCSPL programming with many players, coaching resources and expertise and indeed training facilities,鈥� he noted. 鈥淏oth clubs have played a very significant role in last weekend鈥檚 accomplishments. Without their unconditional support we would not have had such 91原创enal success throughout the season and particularly over the past weekend.鈥�
Leading the way were a dozen players 鈥� out of 18 鈥� on the U14 squad, in addition to coach Scott Howey and manager Terry Chmelyk.
They won the game 1-0 over Coquitlam Metro-Ford on a goal from 91原创's Noah Owen. He also received the game most valuable player award.
Other 91原创 players on the squad are Matthew McLeod, Joseph Gindo, Wyatt Gilbert, Damon Schmidt, Erick Chmelyk, Mattias Jahn, John Kasper, Kierin Eggen, Nolan McMurchy, Joel Harrison and Carson Lee.
The team will head to Vaughan, Ont. in the fall for nationals.
Vaggeli Boucas was selected game MVP as the Surrey United U16 team won their provincial final 1-0 in overtime over Mountain United.
The roster also included Connor Hildebrandt, Joel Waterman and Robert Goodey. They move on nationals in the fall in Charlottetown, PEI.
The U15 team also won their game 1-0 with Jacob Reid, Marcus Thavonesouk and Nestor Valencia winning the gold medals. There are no national championships at this age level.
